10. AN EMAIL TO AN INTERNET FORUM

Hi, 

My name is Clàudia Guilana and I live in South London in England. I like the town where I live, so I want to improve it.

Young people spend all their time hanging around on the street. There are sometimes problems with vandalism and graffiti. There isn't anywhere for young people to go. There aren't any facilites for them!

I think the council should do something about this. I'm sure they must have some free locals to make a youth club there, where the young people can go everyday.

11. MY TRIP TO MADRID

Hi, we are Elisabet, Clàudia Vallmajó, Claudia Guilana and Oleg Mumbrú, and last april we went on a trip to Madrid with our ESO 2 classmates.

FIRST DAY:

At 7 o'clock, we went to the school and we took a bus to Girona. There, we waited for the train (AVE) and we recorded some videos. At 11:45 we arrived to Madrid. Another bus took us to a hostel called Motion and we left our luggage there. After that we visited the “Congreso de los Diputados” and some friends like Clàudia Vallmajó, did an oral presentation about it to the class like Clàudia Vallmajó.

At 14:30 we had lunch and at 15:45 we visited the Museo del Prado. Some of our classmates like Claudia G, explained some paintings to the class. When we finished, we went to Parque del Retiro and there we had one hour for free time.

In the afternoon, we visited la Puerta de Alcalá where we sang a song about it. Finally we took an underground to go to la Opera square.

At 20:30 we had dinner at Fresco and we went to the hostel to sleep.

SECOND DAY:

At 09:00 we had breakfast and we went on foot to Puerta del Sol, Palacio Real's gardens and to the Almudena's cathedral. Then we had lunch at Fresco, the same restaurant that we went on the first day. In the afternoon, we went to a presentation about the Xi'an warriors, which was really good. After that, we walked around Plaza Neptuno, Cibeles and the Council of Madrid. When we fiinished, we ate the famous “Bocata de Calamares” in Plaza Mayor. Then we had free time and we went to the hostel to sleep and watch the football match on the TV.

THIRD DAY:

Like the second day we had breakfast and then, we made the luggage. When we finished, we walked along la Gran Via until la Plaza de España. After that, we had free time and we went to the Templo de Debot and the Senado.

At 13:30 we had lunch at the same restaurant called Fresco. After that we came back to the Motion hostel and we took the bags to leave Madrid. We arrived at Atocha Station where we had one hour for free time and bought some sweets. At 16:00, we caught the AVE which took us to Girona. At 20:02, we arrived to Girona and a bus took us to Banyoles. At 20:45 we arrived at school where our parents were waiting for us.

It was a really great trip! We had a lot of fun there!

9. DIALOG FOR A STORY

A DANGEROUS DAY

Estela: Here is Estela calling Clàudia, where are you? You must be right here before 15 min!

Clàudia: asdfs,... Oh sorry....ajsldjal,....I think I'm lost I,... ajslfa,... I don't know where I am.

Estela: Alright, keep calm, describe your situation. We're in the beach in front of the restaurant. Can you see something like an island or a beach?

Clàudia: Mmmm,... there are only cliffs around me and I only see the water! There isn't any island in my zone.

Estela: Oh dear! Well, do you think you can stand up and shout “HELP!” To see if can we hear you?

Clàudia: It's impossible! I think I've broken my leg and my left wrise because it hurts a lot!

Estela: Don't panic! Georgina is calling the helicopter emergency and 3 coastguarders are coming with little boats to found you. I've described him what you told to me and they are coming right now.

Clàudia: Fine but hurry up! I'm scared and I think I've saw a little shark!

Estela: OK OK, but keep calm because over here can't be any sharks. Wait two minutes and I'll talk to you then. OVER AND OUT.

Clàudia: Estela!!!!!! I was right! A shark bite my boat and now is siking! I'm going to die!!!

Estela: Oh my God, ALRIGHT they think they've found you!

Clàudia: I see the helicopter but the shark is going to eat me right now! HEEEEELP!!!

2 min later

Estela: Are you alright Clàudia?! Come on answer me!!

Anonymous: Hi I'm the doctor, Clàudia is alright but it has one arm bitten for the shark, my coworkers and I we are doing the best. In 5 min we arrived over here so keep calm.

Estela: Fine, but be faster please!

6. A BIOGRAPHY (About Liam Payne)

LIAM PAYNE:

-Born: 23/8/1993 in Wolverphamton, England

-Real Name: Liam James Payne

-Family: His father, Geoff, works for the aerospace manufacturing; his mother, Karen, has worked as a nurse and a receptionist. Payne has two older sisters, Nicole and Ruth.

-School: He wanted to be a professional athletic and a signer too, but he decided to be a singer when the athletics school team didn't chose him. He starting doing plays and musicals and also he had a band called Pink Preformance when he was 12.

-The X FACTOR: Payne auditioned for the television talent competitionThe X Factor in 2008 and performed well enough to become one of the final 24 competitors before he was eliminated. For the next two years, he continued to train as a vocalist. On 2010 he went again to the programme to demostrate his new voice and surprise to the judges. He was eliminated as a solo singer, but one of the judges had the awesome idea to create a band with 5 guys who where eliminated as a solo singers. They create the band with 5 singers: Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomilson. They were called 'ONE DIRECTION'. They started singing as a band and became on the Final but they didn't won, they had the 3^rd place.

-THE BOYS AS A BAND: Actually they thought that it was the end, but they didn't know that they create lots of fans that pushed them to the famous singers world. They started being as a band and creating new songs and CD like 'UP ALL NIGHT', 'TAKE ME HOME' and 'MIDNIGHT MEMORIES'. They had the three world tours.

LIAM NOW: Payne is known for being the most sensible and grounded member of One Direction. He's is love with the dancer Danielle Peazer, who met on the set of The X Factor,from 2010 to 2013. All the band is going to do the 'Where we are Tour' which is the MIDNIGHT MEMORIES CD and they're going to be in Spain on the 8^th of July.

I'm very good at cycling so I am going to participate in an important cycling competition. I'm writing to you because I'm planning that competiton right now and I'm looking for sponsors.

7. A SURVEY ABOUT THE FUTURE

The topic of the survey was “Your opinions about the future”. A group of twenty people did the survey and most of them were positive about the future. These are the final results:

Everybody thinks that humans will exist in a million years time, and some of the group think that the world will be a better place because we'll learn to protect the planet. They think we'll be more intelligent in the future.

A lot of people think that space travel will be normal in the next century, and about half of the people in the class, think that humans will live on other planets in the future. Everybody says that they'll travel into space if they have the chance.

6. A BIOGRAPHY (Joaquín)

JOAQUÍN CORTÉS, DANCER.

Joaquín Cortés was born in Córdoba, 1969. He grew up in Madrid in 1981 and in New York 1999. He started dancing at the age of twelve years old, and then he danced in the Spanish National Ballet when he was only fifteen. His most famous shows are 'Pasión Gitana', 'Soul' and 'Live'. People like him because he's explosive, original and very athletic.

5. A BRAVE RESCUE

The rescue happened while we were on holiday in the Himalaya last winter. It was really amazing and I was lucky to get a photo of it.

I was with my family and my best friends and we were climbing up the mountain. We were exploring new plants and new animals when we saw someone asking for help and crying. There was a man with his wife and two little girls and they where shouting. Lots of snow were falling down and it was going to crush them. In fact, my mother was calling at the helicopter and luckily it arrived on timeand escaped from the avalanche.

The people who were at the helicopter were very brave. I could take a photo and I sent it to a contest and I won! That day it was a very brave rescue.

4. AN EVENT OF THE PAST

A MEMORABLE DAY

I remember my aunt and uncle's wedding 8 years ago. It was a very memorable day.

First we arrived to the wedding and my uncle was there waiting for the bride. There were a lot of people. After that the bride arrived and everybody stood up for the start of the ceremony. I didn't remember many things because it was a long time ago. The thing I remember clearly was that I had to wear the rings! I gave it to the priest and a happy thing started! I didn't want to sit down again and I was at looking all the ceremony standing in the middle of my uncles! Then at the moment of the kiss my mother called me and said: Come here please! And, as I was a very good girl, I sat again next to her.

I don't remember many other things of that day, but another one was at the party time where I sang with the microphone of the band!

I don't remember anyone clearly because I was too young. That day I felt too nervous and happy too! It was a memorable day!

3. MY IDEAL HOME

Here we are in my ideal home. It's a modern house near the centre of the city. It's very big. It's got 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a huge kitchen and living room, too. There's also a big garden with some animals for the forests. In the living room, there's a jacuzzi in front of the TV and there's a sofa too. In my garden there's also an awing with some chairs and a table to look quietly and having fun looking at what the animals do.

On an ideal evening in my ideal home, we're all watching the animals very quietly and having fun looking at what they do. My mum isn't watching the animals right now. She's reading a book, and my father is feeding the animals. My brother an I are excited.

My favorite room is my room. It's got a lot of posters of my favorite group of music and there's on TV too. I've also got a huge wardrobe that has my favorite clothes and shoes. I like it because there's absolute silence and I listen to music louder and louder and nobody is going to hear me because my walls are made of cork so nobody can hear me.

1. MY LAST SUMMER (ESO 2)

ABOUT MY LAST SUMMER.

Hi, I'm Clàudia and today I'm going to talk about my last summer.

First I'm going to talk about Gloucester in the UK, and then I'm going to explain about my stay on the beach in Platja d'Aro.

GLOUCESTER.

Last holidays I went for three weeks to a city in England called Gloucester. Gloucester is in the east of the UK, very near Wales.

On the 7^th of July I flew to Gloucester with some friends from school like Anna Sala, Laura Solà and Jordi Lladó, and some new friends from different places in Catalonia. When we arrived to Gloucester our families came to pick us up, and then we went home for dinner. My family was gorgeous, they were really nice. In the house there were 2 girls called Elisabeth, who was 2 years old, and Isobel who was 8 and there was a cat too called Twister. My mother was Hannah and my father Craig.

Every day we went to the school called Gloucester College. We studied 4 hours a day from 9:00 to 12:30 then we ate the packed lunch. In the afternoons we had different activities like bowling, going to the cinema... but we didn't have disco and everybody was angry with the head of the activities, Richard.

I celebrated my birthday for a second time in England. I think its cool because not a lot of people can say that they celebrate their birthdays there so, it's was a special day. And also because on my birthday we were on a trip to London! That was very good. I had some little presents and I had fun too.

On the 28^th of July we came back and we were all very sad, because it was our last day together.

When I came back from England I stayed for the month of August with my family and friends in Platja d'Aro.

I spent the rest of the summer there with my best friends called Georgina and Estela.

In the mornings we went to the beach and to the pool, then we had lunch and in the afternoons we went shopping to the Stradivarius, Bershka and other shops.

I had a lot of fun with them and then I came back to Banyoles to prepare the things for school.

This summer was very exhausting but incredible. I hope I can go again to England next year and meet my new friends and also to Platja d'Aro where I enjoy best time with my best friends.

11.ABOUT AN EXPLORER

Monday 20^th July

Next week I'm going to an expedition. We're going to stay in a small town near the seaside. I'm going to stay there for about 4 weeks.

I must take my sunscreen, my sun glasses and my mobile phone.

Monday 27^th July

Here I am in my new house . It is sunny, hot and windy. I'm going to take a lot of photos and meet new friends. We're going to have fun in the beach with the water.

Wednesday 29^th July

Today it is my father's birthday. We are doing a lot of activites like playing volleyball, swimming in the beach... It is fantastic! Tomorrow we're going to do a tour around the town. I must take my trainers because we're going to walk a lot!

5. POLAR BEARS

The animal in this photo is a polar bear. Adult polar bears are 750 kilos. They can swim more than 150 kilometers. 

Polar bears live in the Artic, Canada, Russia, Greenland and Norway. They live and hunt on the ice. Polar bears usually eat seals. Females have two cubs every four or five years.  

The Artic ice is smaller because he climate is changing. Pollution is a problem, especially oil. Humans hunt polar bears in some areas, too.

10. TAYLOR SWIFT

Taylor Swift's full name is Taylor Alison Swift. She was born in Reading, Pensylvania, on the 13th December 1989. She is 1,80 tall and she's slim. She's got blonde wavy hair and blue eyes.

At the age of 14, she went to England to study country music. In 2006 she published her first disk called "Our Song" and she became the most famous singer in country music.

Nowadays she's on the top on the list in most radios.

9. MARIA SHARAPOVA

Maria Sharapova's full name is Maria Yuryervna Sharapova. She was born in Nyagan, Russia in the 19th April 1987. She is 1m 88cm tall. She's slim, and she's got blonde fair hair. She also got green eyes.

She started tennis when she was 4 years old, and she became professional in 2001.

Her first gig throphy was in the Wimbledon Championship in 2004.

7. AN EMAIL ABOUT MY SCHOOL

Hi Jessica!

I'm very nervous taht you're coming to stay with me next week. Here's some information about my school.

School starts at 9:00 from Mondays to Thursdays and in Fridays starts at 8:30. We do 6 lesson every day. The lessons are about 1h. At 13:30 me can go home to have lunch or we can stay in the canteen to have lunch and some free time or homework time.

School finishes at 17:00 o'clock and then you can choose some clubs like danse or bike classes.

I always have luch at home excepts on Wednesdays. In the canteen there's some helthy food like vegetables and there's some unhelthy food like burgers or pasta. After lunch you can have some free time to play football or basketball, and if you want you can go to the library and do some homework.

8. ABOUT LONDON

London is the capital of England and it's located in the south east. A long time ago, in Roman times, London was called Londinium and many people lived there.

Now the population in London is of about 1.000.000.

In London there are good places to visit like The London Eye and The Buckingham Palace.

The people of London are called Londoners. Famous Londoners include Adele, Daniel Racliffe and David Beckham. Adele is a famous singer. Daniel is the actor of the Saga Harry Potter and David Beckham is a football player.

3. ABOUT BANYOLES

Banyoles is a town in the north of Catalonia. It's got a population of about 20,000. There's a lot of tourism, especially in summer.

I like Banyoles because it is a pretty town with a beautiful lake.

For tourists, there are some places to visit like the St. Mary's Church, the Neolitic Park, some museums and old buildings.

The most beautiful place in Banyoles is the lake. You can go for a walk, by bike or on the typical boat called “ La Tirona”. My favourite places are the main square, the Draga park and the lake, of course!

Banyoles is 50 km to Girona. It's about half an hour by bus.

There are some coaches to Olot and Barcelona.

6. ABOUT AN ANIMAL (Seals)

My favourite animal is a seal. Adult seals are 100 to 130 kilos (males) and 80 to 100 kilos (females). They can swim very fast.

Seals live in Atlantic, The Norwegian Sea, The North Sea and The Barents Sea. Seals eat fish, octopuses, squids etc. Females have about 3 cubs every 5 years.

Sealing is a big problem for the seals, specially in Canada. They hunt seals to sell their skins. Ice melt is also a big problem because it kills a lot of seals every year. Pollution is a problem for seals, too.
